What this policy covers
This policy explains what personal data we collect through www.dew.co.uk, why we collect it, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it. It applies to visitors to our website, people who contact us through our forms, and subscribers to our newsletter.
It does not cover data we hold about our own employees, or data we process on behalf of clients as part of delivering our services, which is governed separately by the terms of the relevant client engagement.
The data we collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:
Information you give us directly:
- Name, email address, phone number and company name, when you submit our contact form
- Any additional details you choose to include in a contact form message
- Email address, if you subscribe to our newsletter
Information collected automatically:
- IP address, browser type, device type and general location (derived from IP), collected when you visit the site
- Pages visited, time spent on the site, and how you arrived at the site (e.g. search engine, direct link), via analytics
- Cookie identifiers and preferences — see our Cookie Policy for full detail
We do not collect payment information, as the site does not process any transactions.
Why we collect it, and our lawful basis
Under UK GDPR, we must have a lawful basis for every use of personal data. Here is ours:
What we do with your data
Lawful basis
We do not collect payment information, as the site does not process any transactions.
Legitimate interests (responding to enquiries about our services) / steps taken at your request prior to entering a contract
Sending newsletter emails to subscribers
Consent
Understanding how visitors use our site (analytics)
Consent, where the analytics tool sets non-essential cookies
Keeping records of client enquiries for our own business purposes
Legitimate interests
Complying with a legal obligation (e.g. a request from a regulator)
Legal obligation
Where we rely on consent (newsletter sign-up, non-essential cookies), you can withdraw that consent at any time – see “Your rights” below.
Cookies
This section explains how we use cookies and similar technologies on dew.co.uk. We do not maintain a separate cookie policy, so everything you need to know is set out here.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device when you visit it. Cookies let a site remember things about your visit, such as your preferences or whether you have already given consent. We also use similar technologies, such as pixels, tags and local storage, which work in a comparable way. Where we refer to cookies in this policy, we mean all of these technologies.
The law that applies
In the UK, cookies are governed by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, alongside UK GDPR. In practice this means:
- We may only place a cookie on your device once you have given consent, unless that cookie falls within one of the limited exemptions set out in PECR
- Consent must be freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous, and it must be as easy to refuse cookies as it is to accept them
- No non-essential cookies are set before you make a choice on the banner
- You can change or withdraw your consent at any time, and doing so is as easy as giving it in the first place
Some low risk cookies, such as those used purely to remember how the site looks to you, or to produce aggregate visitor statistics that stay entirely within our control, are exempt from the consent requirement. Even where an exemption applies, we still tell you about the cookie here and give you a free and simple way to object to it.
Our analytics tool does not fall within that exemption, because the data it collects is sent to a third party provider who also processes it for their own purposes. We therefore treat analytics cookies as requiring your consent, and they stay switched off unless you turn them on.
Where a cookie also involves processing personal data, such as an online identifier or an IP address, UK GDPR applies as well, and our lawful basis is your consent.
The categories of cookie we use
Our cookie banner groups cookies into the following categories. Strictly necessary cookies are always active because the site cannot work without them. Every other category is switched off by default and is only enabled if you turn it on.
We do not use advertising, remarketing, profiling or cross-site tracking cookies on this website.
Category
What these cookies do
Set without consent?
Necessary
Essential for the website to work. They enable core functions such as page navigation, security, load balancing and remembering your cookie choices. The site cannot function properly without them.
Yes (strictly necessary, exempt from consent)
Functional
Remember choices you have made so the site behaves the way you expect, for example a language or region preference, or a form field you have already completed.
No, consent required
Analytics
Help us understand how visitors find and use the site, such as which pages are viewed, how long people stay, and where traffic comes from. We use this to improve the site.
No, consent required
Unclassified
Cookies we are in the process of identifying and categorising. If any are present, they are not set until you give consent.
No, consent required
Third party cookies
Some cookies are set by third parties rather than by us directly. This includes our analytics provider and any content we embed from other services, for example a video player or a map. These providers may be able to see that you visited our site, and they process that information under their own privacy policies, which we do not control. We recommend reading the privacy policy of any third party whose cookies you consent to.
Where a third party is based outside the UK, personal data collected through their cookies may be transferred abroad. We rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers, as described in the section on sharing your data.
How to change or withdraw your consent
You can change your cookie settings at any time by selecting the cookie settings control (sausage roll icon) that appears in the bottom right of every page on this site. This reopens the preferences panel, where you can turn categories on or off and save your choice.
Withdrawing consent does not delete cookies that were already stored on your device. To remove those, clear the cookies through your browser settings as described below.
Controlling cookies through your browser
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, and view the cookies currently stored. These controls are usually found under Settings, Privacy or Security. Blocking all cookies will stop parts of our site, and many other sites, from working correctly.
You can find guidance for the browser you use in its own help pages. The Information Commissioner’s Office also publishes plain English guidance on cookies for the public at ico.org.uk.
How long your consent lasts
Your consent choice is stored for 180 days, roughly six months, after which the banner will appear again so you can confirm or change your choice. You will also be asked again if we make a material change to the cookies we use.
Who we share your data with
We share personal data with the following categories of third party, only where necessary:
- Hosting, email and infrastructure providers — IONOS, who host the website and any data submitted through it
- Analytics providers — Google Analytics and Monster Insights, to help us understand how the site is used
- Cookie consent management provider — Cookie Consent plugin by Elementor
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Where any of our service providers are based outside the UK, we take steps to ensure your data is protected to a UK GDPR standard, including through appropriate contractual safeguards.
How long we keep your data
- Contact form enquiries: retained for [[X months/years]], or until the enquiry is resolved and a reasonable follow-up period has passed
- Newsletter subscriber details: retained until you unsubscribe
- Website analytics data: retained in line with the analytics provider’s default retention settings, typically 14–26 months
We do not keep personal data for longer than is necessary for the purpose it was collected for.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erase your data, in certain circumstances
- Restrict how we use your data
- Object to our use of your data, including for direct marketing
- Data portability, where technically feasible
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent (this won’t affect the lawfulness of anything we did before you withdrew it)
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within one month, as required by law.
How to complain
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your personal data, we want to hear about it first. You can raise a complaint by contacting us at [email protected], and we will investigate and respond as part of our internal complaints process [Complaints Procedure].
If you’re not satisfied with our response, or you’d prefer to raise the matter independently, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator:
Information Commissioner’s Office Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF ico.org.uk · 0303 123 1113
Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the personal data we hold, including secure hosting, access controls, and encrypted data transmission where applicable. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data to an appropriate standard.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the law or in how we use data. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. We’d encourage you to check back periodically.
